On 15 November 1925, a broadcast radiotelephone station was inaugurated in Minsk. On the very same day, at 18:30, the first words were aired: "Attention! Minsk is speaking!"
The nationwide radio broadcasting has enabled millions of Belarusians to receive information in their mother tongue. Extensive use was made of radio and as a means of education. Musical and literary classics and works by contemporary authors began to be aired. But the first radio station could broadcast within a 300-mile radius, and it was only 30 minutes a day. Production of radios has also not been established.
Thus began the history of Belarusian Radio.
Today, Belarusian Radio is a modern high-tech structure that includes two nationwide channels (the First National Channel and Culture channels) and three radio stations (Radius-FM, Stolitsa and Radio Belarus).
The calling card of the Belarusian Radio - the First National Channel is the major radio channel in Belarus, whose main broadcasting priorities are speed, mass coverage and accessibility.
The network is based on a combination of news, thematic and musical programming. The channel's FM/VHF transmitters cover 99.87% of the territory of Belarus and border areas of Russia, Ukraine and the European Union. The channel' s FM and online broadcasts are available 24 hours a day. The news on the channel is published every hour, our own correspondents work in all regions of Belarus.
The First National Channel is the only radio channel in Belarus that is broadcast in digital format (in the social package of digital television Multiplex-1).
The channel offers a variety of analytical content to its audience and discussions are aired daily. Reputable experts - deputies, heads of ministries and departments, public organizations, political observers and political scientists - make topical comments on domestic and foreign policy issues.
The channel broadcasts live radio broadcasts of the most important social and political events with the participation of the President of the Republic of Belarus - messages to the Belarusian people and parliament, solemn events dedicated to Victory Day, Independence Day, press conferences for journalists of Belarusian and foreign media, the International Arts Festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" and others.
Sports reviews are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Well-known athletes and coaches, representatives of federations take part in the thematic special project "Sportive Belarus" on a regular basis. Special attention is paid to the development of children's and youth sports in the country and the activities of the Presidential Sports Club.
The cultural programs are aimed at preserving and enhancing the national heritage of Belarus. The channel broadcasts daily radio plays, lyrical sketches and radio compositions, and holds round tables with the participation of prominent cultural and artistic figures.
Music broadcasting is aimed at popularizing contemporary Belarusian authors and performers, including the winners and participants of the Factor.by show. At the same time, golden hits of past years are aired on a regular basis.
The Internet resources of the First National Channel (radio.bel website, official social media accounts TikTok, Instagram, Odnoklassniki, VK, Facebook, YouTube channel) are filled with a variety of content - short audio and video segments of broadcasts, off-air podcasts and videos, extended versions of interviews, archived air records.
The First National Channel has the widest broadcast network in the country and can be heard almost anywhere in Belarus.
Being available and always interesting to your listeners, discussing topical issues together, enjoying and useful leisure - all this is reflected in the motto of the First National Channel "Stay Together!"
